Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai, is organising a three-day workshop on the music of Smt. Veena Dhanammal, one of the foremost vocalists and vainikas of the twentieth century. The workshop, which will include in-depth sessions, lectures and concerts featuring scholars, eminent musicians and gurus will be held over January 10, 11 and 12, 2012, at Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai.
Each of the three days of the workshop will include two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Additionally, there will be a lecture and a concert on each of the three evenings of the workshop. The sessions in the morning and afternoon will be hosted by eminent scholars and musicians including Smt. Vegavahini Vijayaraghavan, Dr. Ritha Rajan, Smt. Rama Ravi and Sri. B. Balasubramanian. The evening lectures will be delivered by Sri. V. Sriram, Dr. Ritha Rajan and Sri. Spencer Venugopal, respectively. The evening concerts will feature Smt. S. Sowmya, Smt. Rama Ravi and Sri. B. Balasubramanian.
