It is here and now. August 6, 7 and 8, Svanubhava annual event will be hosted at the Rukmini Arangam, Kalakshetra, Chennai, with the support of Kalakshetra.
Concept Svanubhava was flagged off in the year 2008 and has been growing in proportions with events under its aegis extended to other cities like New Delhi, Trichy, Bangalore and Jaffna, Sri Lanka. It is managed by young performing artistes who volunteer to put together quality concerts, dance, drama, folk art forms and other performing arts. Svanubhava draws huge crowds that include rasikas, students of art forms and students who are invited from different schools.
One of the goals of Svanubhava is to include youth in the arrangements and invite the future youth to the event giving them a fine taste of our cultural potpourri. This will ensure involvement of youngsters in carrying on our cultural tradition by cherishing and nourishing art forms. The volunteer team put their heads together much before the schedule, decide on the art forms and artistes, book hospitality venues, make pickup and drop arrangements, the food and beverages, the invites for the schools, the technical details and stage requirements, the brochure and poster design, identifying of sponsors...every little logistic is planned, put on paper and executed with absolute professionalism. It is true that you learn swimming by jumping into the water and not by waiting at the banks and watching.
The events are open to all and free of cost. It is not only watching and listening to the concerts but being able to ask questions and get answers from the artistes themselves that makes the whole affair interesting and informative.
This year’s schedule runs thus:
Inauguration on August 6, percussion ensemble ‘Laya Advaitam’ followed by Rudra Veena by Shri Mohi Baha’uddinDagar. The afternoon session will feature Parikshai, a Tamil drama by Dummies Troupe and Odissi solo by Smt. Sujatha Mohapatra.
