K.P. Parameswaran is a Professional AIR 'A' grade Mridangam Artist. He had initial training from his Grandfather Mridanga Vidwan Late. Shri Kodunthirapully Swaminatha Iyer, who was the disciple of Mridangam Maestros Sh. Thanjavur Vaidyanatha Iyer and Shri Palakkad Mani Iyer. Then he did Ganabhushanam in Mridangam under the guidance of Professor Parashala Ravi at Chembai Memorial Music College, Palakkad. After that he had the fortune to have special gurukulavasam training under Mridangam Maestro Sangeethakalanidhi Dr. T.K. Murthy. He learned under Dr. T.K. Murthy for more than 12 years. In the mean time, he played 'Double Mridangam' with Dr. T.K. Murthy for many concerts and also for talam demonstration. During his gurukulavasam training, he was awarded central government Scholarship for training as a Young Artist in the field of Mridangam under Dr. T.K. Murthy.
K.P. Parameswaran is the 'Asthana Vidhwan' of Kanchi Madhom and has also been awarded with the title 'Sangeetha Thilakam' by Thiruvambadi Devaswam.
He has played Mridangam in the 35 Thalam, 72 Mela Kartha & 108 Thalam CDs produced by Dr. T.K. Murthy.
He has played Mridangam for the concerts of the eminent Musicians such as Shri. K.V. Narayanaswamy, Shri. B. Rajam Iyer, Shri. T.K Govinda Rao, Shri. M.S. Gopalakrishnan, and many others.
