Sudha Ragunathan

Sudha Ragunathan is a popular Carnatic music singer whose foundation in the world of music was laid at a very young age and it was her mother Smt. Choodamani who initiated her. Later, she came under the tutelage of Vidwan Sri. B.V. Lakshman. In 1977, Sudha won a Central Government scholarship that gave her the opportunity to come under the wings of Padmavibushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. M.L. Vasanthakumari, hailed by many as a musical genius, a doyen of Carnatic music. Sudha Raghunathan, being born in Chennai, did her schooling at Good Shepherd Convent in the same city. She did higher education at Bangalore, Karnataka. She has completed the Masters Degree in Economics. Sudha won the award- Outstanding Student of Ethiraj College, for three years in succession- an achievement which for a long time remained unmatched. Sudha's musical career began with her first accompanying her Guru, Padmabhushan Dr. MLV, on stage, and then giving memorable performances one after the other. Sudha Ragunathan has amassed numerous titles and awards over the years. Sudha is a top ranking artiste for Prasar Bharati, Chennai and performs at important events of All India Radio and Doordarshan. She has donated 80 Lakhs to the needy, ill and homeless and she is the foundor of the Samudhaaya Foundation, which was founded for social welfare activities on July 1999.
